“..the things in our room transform into beings.. No longer objects and implements. They are now bodies through which hidden, inner motions flow. They are our things which we resemble and which resemble us..” - Haytham El Wardany.

The objects that we live with are stitched with multiple memories and mirror us in ways that we often take for granted or tend to ignore, Most often they have a life beyond their stillness and hold banks of memories and archives of our social and political circumstances. My inquiry resides in the parable meanings that accompany mundane objects and the politics of presence in both material and abstract realms.
Borrowing from the feminist phrase- “The personal is political”, I stick together the narratives of my mother’s everyday life, drawing her portrait through intimate objects, movements, and sounds. These works bring to the surface inherent patriarchal structures of power that are preserved as souvenirs in the society, present throughout history in different manifestations.
